An electrical equipment that is used to protect and condition the supply of AC and/or DC electrical power before it is consumed by a host(s). Its primary components are an internal battery pack, battery charger, inverter, and noise and surge suppression circuitry. The internal battery pack is used to sustain the host(s) when the AC or DC supply fails. External battery packs may be added in order to extend the period of sustenance. The UPS is ruggedised to military standards for use in field environments.
